BIG BEAR MOUNTAIN RESORTS SNOW REPORT
- Snow Summit & Bear Mountain
---------------------------------------------------------------------
This report is for: Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 6:00 a.m.
--------------------------
Current Conditions:
---
THE RESORTS ARE CLOSED TODAY, BUT PLAN TO RE-OPEN TOMORROW; WEATHER AND CONDITIONS PERMITTING.
Last night we received rain at the resorts. Don't worry! The rain is not washing away all of the snow on the slopes. The deep snow pack acts like a sponge to absorb the rain. We should be able to get through this storm with a lot of the snow pack intact. The base of our mountain is 7,000 feet with a peak elevation of 8,200 feet at Snow Summit and 8,800 feet at Bear Mountain. This afternoon, snow levels may drop as low as 4,000 feet as temperatures become colder.
--------------------------
Today's Forecast:
---
Forecasts are calling for cloudy skies with continued rain/snow possible throughout the day. Highs are expected to reach into the upper 30s with lows dropping into the mid 20s.
--------------------------
Hours of Operation for Today:
---
Both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit are CLOSED today due to road and weather conditions.
--------
Road Conditions:
---
All roads into the Big Bear Valley are closed at this time. Contact Cal-Trans at 1-800-427-ROAD for the latest road conditions before heading to the resorts.
