Fires West of Big Bear Valley
The Grass Valley Fire has burned approximately 300 acres in the area northwest of Lake Arrowhead and 113 structures have burned. The Slide Fire, in the vicinity of Green Valley Lake has burned 1500 acres and 16 homes that have burned and/or been completely lost. Highway 18 and Highway 330 remain closed to all traffic, except for those evacuating.

Three Fires Burning West of Big Bear Valley -- Update as of 5pm
As of this afternoon, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reiterates that the fires burning west of Big Bear Valley do not pose a threat at this time. According to Sergeant Jim Bergendahl at the Big Bear Station, earlier this afternoon, “We are not concerned about a threat to the Big Bear area at this time. We will be monitoring wind conditions over night.”

Oct. 22, 2:11 p.m.-A reported 50 homes have been destroyed by a fast moving fire in Lake Arrowhead. However, the exact number hasn't been confirmed.
Officials have called for evacuation of North Lake Arrowhead, Twin Peaks, Rim Forest, Cedar Glen, Deer Lodge Park and Dart Canyon north of Lake Gregory. Lake Arrowhead proper hasn't been evacuated as yet, but residents are leaving, according to reports from the area.
The Grass Valley fire has burned 300 acres and conditions are severe. Northeast winds are blowing at 20 to 30 mph.
The Slide fire burning near Green Valley Lake and Forest Service Raod 2N13 has burned approximately 300 acres as of the last update. Winds are northeast at 30 mph. Evacuation orders include Green Valley Lake and Arrowbear.
The causes of the two fires are still under investigation. Neither fire poses a threat to Big Bear at this time.
