Big Bear Mountain Resorts has been making snow at every opportunity and will continue to make snow as conditions permit. Although it has been a relatively mild winter thus far, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain are expecting a fairly good chance of winter weather rolling in later this week bringing with it a possibility of substantial snowfall! Although natural snowfall would be greatly beneficial, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain can, still open more runs and lifts with our impressive snow making equipment. BBMR now offers 8 lifts and 9 runs and we expect to open additional terrain this weekend.
Weather forecast for Thursday through Saturday - Looks like snow coming our way on Friday!
A strong and cold low pressure system begins dropping southward along the California coast. Winds increase on Thursday as clouds also increase, and showers develop in the evening and overnight Thursday. Snow levels start out high initially, through Thursday night, then on Friday we could see significant snow right into Saturday morning mainly as the strong low-pressure system moves through. Temperatures look cold on Friday and Saturday (lingering snow Saturday). Winds are also expected to be pretty strong through this period.
