Update from BIG BEAR MOUNTAIN RESORT:

Perfectly Packed Powder!

We're set up for the rest of the season! The cold temperatures are providing ideal snowmaking conditions and combined with the recent snowfall of 16 inches, conditions are the best they've been all season. The surface is perfectly packed powder on a base of 3 to 4 feet and the runs are in pristine shape with fresh cut corduroy to be had by all! Come enjoy some of the best skiing and riding right here in Southern California! All three routes into Big Bear are open. Please read further for road conditions.

Update from Big Bear Mountain Resorts:
Big Bear has been graced with 16 inches of fresh powder. It's a powder playground. Conditions are the best they have been all season! The runs are in pristine shape with fresh tracks to be had by all! This is the best skiing and riding in Southern California so don't miss out. In fact, if you were going to call in sick, today is the day to do it! Although it may take a little extra time getting here, conditions are well worth the drive. 10 inches of fresh snow fell last night on top of our 2 to 3 foot base and it continues to snow this morning. In the past week, we have received more than 17 inches of new snow! Coverage is excellent with a surface that ranges from powder to packed powder. Although it may take a little extra time getting here, conditions are well worth the drive. As expected, this storm came in last night with rain however as the cold core of the system comes in, snow levels should drop and snow accumulations are forecast to be between 8 to 12 inches today. It is likely we could see another 4 to 8 inches overnight as well. Think Snow! All three routes into Big Bear are open. Please read further for road conditions.

Big Bear Mountain Resorts Update:

Big Bear received 5 to 7 inches of fresh new snow from the weather system that passed through the Valley Wednesday and Thursday. Conditions are excellent with a machine groomed packed powder surface on a base of two to three feet! We are expecting only partly cloudy skies today with little to no daytime precipitation, so get out of the heavy weather and head to Big Bear Mountain Resorts for over 438 ski able acres! Road Conditions

3 Ways to Big Bear - Highway 330/18 from San Bernardino through Running Springs ("Front Way") is the shortest and most direct route. Highway 38 from Redlands ("Back Way") is the best route when leaving the Valley on weekends and holidays. Highway 18 from Lucerne Valley ("Desert Way") is best in snowy weather.

Hwy. 330 / 18 (Running Springs): Open with chains required on all vehicles except four-wheel drives with snow tires. Always carry chains when driving in the mountains during winter months.
Hwy. 38 (Redlands): Open and clear with no restrictions. Always carry chains when driving in the mountains during winter months.
Hwy. 18 (Lucerne Valley): Open and clear with no restrictions. Always carry chains when driving in the mountains during winter months.

In addition to the light snow flurries we are receiving, we have been making fresh new snow for several days. Snow Summit and Bear Mountain have 438 ski able acres with excellent coverage and terrain available for beginner to advanced skiers and riders. All three routes into Big Bear are open and clear with no restrictions

Coverage / Depth - Excellent on all open runs, 20-36 inches on the open runs
Surface - Moslty machine groomed packed powder with a few hard pack spots
New Snow - Yes- Snow flurries. Snow making in progress. Snow making will continue as conditions permit

- Mostly cloudy and breezy with scattered snow flurries. High 34, Low 19

6 to 8 inches of snow fell yesterday and 10 inches of fresh snow fell overnight on top of our 16 to 28 inch base. Giving us a total of 16-18 inches of new snow in the past two days. The forecast is calling for more snow this morning, then becoming mostly cloudy by the afternoon. We are back to mid-winter conditions. Coverage is excellent and with a surface that ranges from fresh powder to machine groomed packed powder, conditions are prime for laying out fresh tracks! Big Bear Mountain Resorts offers more terrain, more lifts and more park features than any other Southern California Resort with 100% of our lifts are available and 98% of our runs are open! Although it may take a little extra time getting here, conditions are well worth the drive.

RESORTS OPEN TOMORROW!

Due to inclement weather, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain are closed today however, our resorts will be open tomorrow. Snow levels are dropping now and we've recieved 1 to 2 inches of new snow today. We are expecting more snowfall tonight as snow levels continue to lower. It is very likely we'll see plenty of new snow by morning. Our sufficient snow pack can sustain this current wet weather and with a little fresh snow on top, we will be right back to mid-winter conditions. Forecasters predict this three-part storm to last into Monday getting progressively colder and bringing with it a possibility of substantial snowfall!
